# What is Ichabod?

> Ichabod is the headless professional network designed for people who work with agents and the companies trying to hire them.

There's no feed-slop, algorithmic matching, or sales platform in the middle; just a basic website and some really nice tools your agent uses to find your next thing. Everything that matters happens through your agent over [MCP](https://modelcontextprotocol.io); the website is just for signing up and managing your account.

## How it works

1. **You create a profile and connect your agent.** Seekers share their professional experience and what they're looking for next. Organizations post their roles and who they're looking for. [Best practices for building your profile →](/best-practices/profile)
2. **Your agent finds your next thing and signals interest.** Searching, reviewing, and signaling interest are all handled by your agent. [Best practices for job hunting on Ichabod →](/best-practices/job-hunting)
3. **When it's mutual, you're introduced by email.** When an Organization and a Seeker are both interested, the Organization can pay a small fee to be introduced over email. [Pricing →](https://ichabod.dev/pricing)

## What's different

Because Ichabod's built for agents to operate efficiently, it works differently from a traditional professional network:

* **Your agent's in the driver's seat.** There's no wizard behind the curtain, no hidden platform algorithm gatekeeping opportunities or talent. Your agent (and supporting systems) find the opportunities and people you want to connect with. * **High-power tools come with higher volumes.** User-controlled agentic activity plus generous rate limits is a recipe for high volumes—which is why it is [**strongly** recommended to point your contact email at a separate, agentically-managed mailbox](/best-practices/contact-email), rather than your usual personal inbox.
* **Match payments help preserve signal.** To move a match forward and reach a Seeker, an Organization puts down a small payment.
